About the event
Students will be learning 2 skills in one block…learning the folded cutwork technique while learning needle turn appliqué. Students will learn how to create a pattern template by folding freezer paper and cutting the design out. Yes…just like making snowflakes when we were kids. Students will learn the basics of inside and outside points and curves and I have some tips that make these easier. This will be a take-home project. The block finishes at about 15” x 15”.
Supply List:
-One 13” x 13” square of light background fabric
-One 12” x 12” square of a batik fabric for the cutwork (I highly recommend batik fabrics for beginners because it frays less than regular cotton)
-Thread to match the appliqué fabric
-Paper scissors
-Basting thread
-Needles…sharps and appliqué
-Pins…regular or appliqué
-Erasable marker (light or dark depending on the choice of batik fabric… I like to use the Clover white ink marker…NOT chalk and the blue Sewline Styla marker
-Fabric scissors
-Small pair of sharp clipping scissors
*Instructor will provide freezer paper, staples, staplers, staple removers, and the pattern.
Shared cutting mats, rotary cutters and irons will be provided.
