English Paper Piecing -Beyond the Basics-NE Ohio

This class will teach the basic techniques of English Paper Piecing (also called EPP). This is a method of folding fabric around paper shapes and basting them in place before joining them using a whipstitch. We will practice several shapes that include straight edges, curves, and some tricky points. Students will earn ways that EPP can be used to create large and small projects. This method can be a helpful tool for some quilt patterns that are difficult to stitch together the traditional way…It’s not just for Grandmother’s Flower Garden!

Supplies:

-Paper scissors

-Fabric scissors

-Mechanical pencil

-Needles (appliqué and sharps)

-Small ruler

-Small binding clips

-A few scraps of fabric and threads that match them…this is a technique class so you don’t need to bring your best/favorite fabrics.

*Instructor will provide patterns of various shapes used for EPP, freezer paper, and regular copy paper.

Shared cutting mats, rotary cutters and irons will be provided.
