Quilt Appraisals with Certified Appraiser Amy Korn-NE Ohio

Have your quilts appraised on-site and in-person during the quilt show. Please purchase a ticket below for either a Written or Verbal Appraisal. One ticket per quilt. You will be contacted within the next few days to schedule a specific time on Friday or Saturday. If available times do not work for you we will fully refund your ticket.

Quilts, old and new, should be appraised for insurance value. Written insurance appraisals are available at The NE Quilt Show by certified appraiser Amy Korn, who is certified to appraise both traditional and non-traditional quilts.   Each quilt will require approximately 30 minutes for appraisal. If you are interested in having a quilt(s) appraised, you must pre-register for the desired appraisal day and appointment time. Please register for one time slot for each quilt you would like appraised. You will receive any email prior to your appointment with further information that will be needed for your appraisal.  Appraisals are by appointment only

Two types of appraisals will be offered:

1-Written Appraisal-$70

Written appraisals may be conducted for antique or newly made quilts for insurance purposes (or for sale). An appraisal provides a written statement of value and includes such information as the pattern name, the circa date (10 years before or after), a brief description of the quilt, any information regarding the quilt’s “provenance” or history and the estimated value based on additional research and the appraiser’s experience. For newly made quilts, important information includes the design source, the cost of the fabrics and materials used and any awards that might have been won. Your quilt will be examined, measured, and photographed and the finished appraisal mailed to you within 2 weeks following the show.

2-Verbal Appraisal-$40

A verbal consultation will provide more information regarding your quilt including condition, quality of workmanship, time period and pattern. Only a range of value will be discussed – no specific value. There is no written documentation for this option, but you are encouraged to ask questions and take notes. 

Both appraisals will be given instructions on the care of their quilt as well as a written quilt care sheet. 

PLEASE NOTE: We will not accept any quilt for appraisal that have been stored with mothballs, have any sign of mold, or smells from animals, smoke etc. These are a health hazard to our appraiser and will not be taken. If your quilt is rejected due to one of these reasons your appraisal fee will not be refunded. If you are unsure please contact us prior to your appointment.
